Sofia Karim has practised architecture for over 20 years at studios including Norman Foster’s in London, Peter Eisenman’s in New York and Doone Silver Kerr where she was an Associate. She trained at the University of Edinburgh and the Bartlett, where she won the Banister Fletcher medal for first place in Diploma. She was nominated for the RIBA medals for both degree and diploma. In 2018 she went freelance. She lectures on architecture and has been a visiting critic at Westminster School of Architecture and the RCA. Her on-going work An Architecture of Disappearance has been presented at Cambridge University, Harvard, University California Santa Cruz, San José Museum of Art and the V&A. In November 2023 she initiated Architects For Palestine / Tragic Turn (@tragicturn), offering architectural design advice for everyday projects to raise funds for Gaza.
