TRAGIC TURN/ ARCHITECTURE OF DISAPPEARANCE / FREE TIM YOUNG

Tim Young is a wrongfully convicted prisoner on California's death row. I am undertaking a collaborative project with him. These diaries document the process. Further information on Tim’s case can be found on https://www.timothyjamesyoung.com/

Tim’s cell at San Quentin measured 4.5’ x 10’. At scale 1:50 its volume is roughly equivalent to a medium sized hen’s egg. The interior of an egg would be a strange space to inhabit. No sense of floor, walls, up or down. Monotonous and scale-less, a sense of floating. Can shapes be happy or sad? I always thought the oval feels like a sad shape.
